JUST IN: FIVE KILLED BY SUSPECTED CULTISTS IN RIVERS
Five residents of the Odiemerenyi community in Rivers State’s Ahoada East Local Government Area (LGA) were shot and killed by suspected cultists, sending the locals into a state of terror.
The heinous crime, which occurred on Sunday at around one in the morning, is thought to have been planned by the notorious David Gift, also known as 2baba, and his group, who are wanted for the death of the late DPO Bako Angbashim.
Journalists were told by a local resident that the gangsters shot and killed two of his brothers as well as another individual in his compound when they broke into the village at around one in the morning.
Speaking via telephone interview, the source who wished to remain anonymous said: “They said they’ve come to kill everybody that if they don’t release their people in police custody including the chief that’s with them and those of their sympathizers, that they’re not going to stop killing everybody”.
He further said: “They shot my younger brother and two other of my brothers then they went to another compound and shot another person. So, five persons were killed”.
Police officers responding to the distress call shot and killed two gangsters after they engaged in gunfire with the group.
Charles Osu, Ogbobula Ejee, and Eeje Idaowukwo were among the names of the deceased that were revealed. The cultists are purporting to have accused them of being police informants.
The Command Grace Iringe-Koko spokeswoman has not yet confirmed as of the time of publication, although she did send a “I’ll get back to you” WhatsApp message.
