EU EXTENDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO NIGERIAN VARSITY LECTURERS, NON-TEACHING STAFF

On Tuesday, the European Union said it is extending its Erasmus plus postgraduate scholarships to academic and non-academic staff of Nigerian higher institutions.

This, the EU, said will promote knowledge sharing and professional growth.

This was disclosed in a statement made available in Abuja by the European Union Delegation to Nigeria.

Quoted in the statement, the EU ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi noted that the Erasmus scholarship can be described as a success story that the EU is proud of.

It was also stated that about 800 Nigerians have been sponsored since 2004.

The statement reads, “The Erasmus+ Scholarship Programme offers a beacon of opportunity for Nigerians seeking to advance their academic pursuits in Europe. It is not only about expanding educational horizons but also about building bridges of knowledge and fostering cultural exchange.

“This year, the programme extends its scope to include teaching and non-teaching staff of higher education institutions, promoting knowledge-sharing and professional growth. Eligible Nigerians, including higher education institution staff, are encouraged to visit the official Erasmus+ Scholarship website for comprehensive details on application procedures, eligibility criteria, available fields of study, and invaluable opportunities for career advancement.

“Erasmus+ nurtures not only individual development but also strengthens the bonds between Nigeria and the European Union through the power of education.

“The EU has awarded postgraduate scholarships to over 800 young Nigerians since 2014.”
