34-YEAR-OLD FOOTBALLER COLLAPSES, DIES DURING TRAINING IN OGUN
According to reports, Sodiq Adebisi, a 34-year-old footballer passed away on Saturday during a training session at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, in Ijebu Ode Local Government area of Ogun State.
Reliable information indicated that the incident occurred on Saturday while the player was training with other players.
Sodiq was rushed to a state hospital in Ijebu-Ode by his teammates after they witnessed him collapsing, but was pronounced dead the same day he was taken to the hospital.
The incident was confirmed by State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who also mentioned that Ganiyu Adebisi, the deceased’s brother had gone to the Igbeba Police Division to demand that the corpse be buried.
“The brother came to report the incident at our Igbeba division. The family said they don’t want any investigation and that they wanted to bury the deceased according to Islamic rite,” Odutola said.
