GUNMEN KIDNAP HIGH COURT JUDGE, KILL ORDERLY IN AKWA-IBOM
Justice Joy Uwanna, a high court judge, and her driver were abducted by gunmen in the Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The police orderly was instantly shot to death, and the female judge was taken away by her kidnappers along with her driver.
The incident happened on Monday while the judge was being brought home to Uyo by her driver following the court session in Oron along the Uyo-Okobo Road.
Odiko MacDon, the public relations officer for the State Police, called the occurrence regrettable and mentioned that the police commissioner has directed a covert inquiry into it.
“It’s very unfortunate that a judge who presides over the high court has been kidnapped. The command under the CP, Olatoye Durusinmi, has ordered a discreet investigation,” he stated.
“As we speak, no stone will be left unturned, resources will be harnessed to ensure that Her Lordship is reunited with her family any moment from now.
“I have spoken with the family of the deceased officer who, until his death was an orderly to the judge. Justice will be served and the perpetrators will be brought to book.”
