UPDATE: SENATE GIVES POLICE 24 HOURS TO COMPEL APPEARANCE OF CAC BOSS, ISHAQ MAGAJI
Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, must come before the Senate Committee on Finance within 24 hours, according to a mandate from the Senate to the Inspector General of Police.
During the budget defence meeting on Wednesday, Senator Sani Musa, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, requested the RG’s appearance due to disparities found in revenue generation and expenditure by the Corporate Affairs Commission. He did this by invoking Section 89, Subsection 2.
Sen. Musa claims that the RG has rejected the committee’s summons for a third time, which he views as disrespectful to the committee. The committee had already deemed the commission wanting during the MTEF/FP defence.
He stated, ‘You have your book keepers; you have your records and we asked you to go and tidy up and report back, but you never did.”
The committee unanimously resolved that the Inspector General of Police compel his presence before the finance committee unfailingly on Thursday.
