DAVIDO’S ‘UNAVAILABLE’ IS MY SONG OF THE YEAR, SAYS RIHANNA
By Sefiu Ajape
The collaboration “Unavailable,” which features South African singer Musa Keys and Nigerian musician Davido, has been named the year’s best song by international sensation Rihanna.
This was stated by the legendary Barbadian-American during a recent event for her fashion company, Fenty, The Creeper, in an exclusive interview with Complex.
The rich music mogul brushed off the question of which album of the year she preferred, saying that she prefers streaming singles.
She declared “Unavailable” by Davido with Musa Keys and “Mnike” by Tyler ICU and Tumelo to be her joint songs of the year with much enthusiasm.
“Album of the year? Am I an album girl, or am I a streaming single girl? ‘Unavailable’ [by Davido, featuring Musa Keys] on repeat,” Rihanna said.
“That and ‘Mnike’ [by Tyler ICU and Tumelo] are my songs of the year.”
In response to Rihanna’s acknowledgment, Davido took to social media, sharing a clip of the interview with the caption, “My Ri Ri.”
The fourth studio album by the Nigerian artist Davido, which features the viral hit song “Unavailable,” was released on March 31, 2023. Although the album is mostly an Amapiano record, it also features tracks from dancehall, ragga, konto, highlife, and afro pop.
Among the artists who have collaborated on it are Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Focalistic, and The Cavemen. It has 17 tracks in total.
