The operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have apprehended three ‘one chance’ armed robbers near Jubilee Bridge in Abule-Egba, Lagos State.

This was announced in a statement released on Thursday, signed by Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA.

According to the statement, the officials recovered a yellow commercial bus with a registration number (APP 406 YE), associated with the criminals. However, one of the robbers managed to escape with a POS machine before the police could arrive.

However, preliminary investigations revealed that the robbers were known for terrorizing the Abule-Egba area by utilizing a ‘one chance’ tactic involving robbery in commercial buses. Also, it was further revealed that their modus operandi involves pushing victims out of the moving vehicle after robbing them, a practice that has instilled fear among the locals. This led to them being chased by the locals.

The statement added that they drove recklessly in order to evade arrest before they were eventually caught by LASTMA officials controlling and managing traffic around the Abule-Egba axis. The two suspects were later handed over to policemen from the ‘Ile-Epo’ Police Division for further investigation.
