For ICT Officers in the State Unified Local Government Service, a training workshop has been held by the Office of Local Government Establishments and Training.

The Permanent Secretary of the Office of Local Government Establishment and Training, Mrs. Bibilomo Olushekun, declared the workshop open on Tuesday at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in Magodo. She explained that the training’s objectives were increased productivity and the officers’ ability to apply global ICT best practices.

The Permanent Secretary made the point that as the population’s demands grow more complex, the workforce’s capacity must be increased in order to efficiently serve all state residents.

In her words, “The training is aimed at ensuring that our ICT Team are well positioned to serve the good people of Lagos State by upskilling them, exposing them to new knowledge because the demands of the populace are getting more sophisticated, we have to be more equipped hence the need for regular capacity training”.

Olushekun mentioned that the ICT officers would be trained on job-specific training programmes so that they would have job-specific skills that can serve the people and reflect on the job performance of officers.

She, therefore, advised the participants to optimally harness the opportunities inherent in the training programme and apply the various takeaways in the discharge of their duties, adding that ICT is a sector in which innovation and initiatives come up quickly hence the workshop will avail them the opportunity to gain new knowledge and learn trending skills for enhanced productivity.

The Permanent Secretary also mentioned that the training is the first in many trenches of training programmes for officers in the Unified Local Government which cut across various cadres as well as generic training.

Olushekun thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to the improvement of the skills of officers in the Unified Local Government, expressing her belief that the participants will judiciously make use of their new skills.

Participants at the event expressed satisfaction with the workshop, noting that it will increase their productivity and provide an opportunity to learn trending ICT skills.
