LASG TRAINS OFFICERS IN STRESS MANAGEMENT

In order to address the issue of workforce capacity building and the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, the Ministry of Establishments and Training arranged a two-day training workshop for public servants.

One hundred participants from various ministries, departments, and agencies attended the training programme with the theme “Managing Stress and Nurturing Team Relationships” today at LCCI. The training’s main goal is to teach officers how to manage their personal and professional lives in order to increase output.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, stated in her introductory remarks that the training was special since its resource people were chosen from the civil service.

Abidakun advised participants to be proud of themselves as staff of Lagos State, stating that participants must be able to practice all that the government had inculcated by applying it in their various MDAs.

While highlighting the topics to be discussed in the course of the training programme, she emphasised the need to give a listening ear to down-line Officers and avoid the use of the word, subordinate. According to her, “Never use the word subordinate, it is not in the dictionary of the Human Resource Managers”.

She stated that one of the topics for training was “Managing Pressure and Stress at Workplace”, adding that as a principal in leadership, it was crucial to be able to manage stress.

Abidakun appreciated all the resource persons who have volunteered to be part of the programme. They include the Permanent Secretary of Local Government Establishments and Training, Mrs. Bibilomo Olushekun; Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Akinbode Obadina; Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and Permanent Secretary of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa amongst others.

Director of Training, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite reiterated that it is time to give back to the community and society which is public service, stressing the need to actively participate in all sessions. She said any officer could be invited in the near future to facilitate in training programme
