LASG RESOLVES REVOLUTIONPLUS, CUSTOMER LAND DISPUTE
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority, said it has effectively resolved the land dispute between real estate company RevolutionPlus Property Limited and its customer, Kayode Oladipo.
This was stated in a statement that Adeoti Shobowale, LASRERA’s deputy director of public affairs, signed.
Shobowale said that an agreement for the allocation of five plots at Amazon Estate, Epe, has resolved the controversy that was started by a viral video that highlighted Oladipo’s claim of non-allocation of 20 purchased plots.
Nigerian expatriate Oladipo claimed that Bamidele Onalaja, the managing director of RevolutionPlus Real Estate, had defrauded him out of overĀ N40 million.
Oladipo stated that he gave the money to the corporation in 2017 and that the company was meant to give him twenty plots of land.
He threatened to commit suicide as he pleaded with the Nigerian government to step in. He went on to say that he is sleeping outside in the snow and that he wishes he had a house to return to in Nigeria.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, had instructed the LASRERA to start probing the viral video.
The statement read, āFollowing the Governorās directive, the Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare and Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Gbolahan Toriola, on Friday, invited the management of RevolutionPlus Limited, led by the companyās Chief Executive Officer, Dr.Bamidele Onalaja, for fact-finding.ā
According to the Commissioner for Housing, the information-gathering process by top government officials would safeguard the interests of investors and investees in real estate business transactions in Lagos State and assist in finding long-term solutions to the frequent reports of fraudulent practices in the state’s real estate sector.
Odunuga-Bakare noted that prior to Oladipo’s viral video, several members of the public had expressed concerns regarding RevolutionPlus Property Limited’s behavior toward some of its subscribers.
The statement added, āThe members of the investigation team reiterated the resolve of the state government to investigate the allegation against RevolutionPlus Limited in line with LASRERA Law 2022.ā
The team claims that LASRERA Law 2022 gave the agency the authority to look into public petitions and complaints in order to safeguard and advance sanity and increase investor trust in Lagos State’s industry both domestically and internationally.
Oladipo subscribed for 20 plots of property from RevolutionPlus Property Limited at Dallas Court, Lekki, and Royalty Gardens, Ajah, in Lagos State, according to Bamidele Onalaja, CEO of the real estate company.
According to Onalaja, the client had fully paid for two of the initial 20 plots, and the relevant paperwork had been completed and given to him.
He continued by saying that the complainant had not paid for the other 18 plots of that land in full, claiming that he had broken the terms of the contract regarding payment.
He said, āProperty not fully paid for with its associated costs will not be processed based on contract conditions because, in case of non-compliance, the company policy requires the relocation of such subscriber to another site upon completion of payment or refund of the deposited sum less than 40 percent.
āHaving defaulted in his payment pattern, RevolutionPlus Property Limited relocated him to another land site at Amazon Estate, Epe, which he declined, while the option of refunding the sum advanced was also rejected by the complainant.ā
Onalaja saidĀ the corporation has decided to give Oladipo five plots at Amazon Estate in exchange for the money that has been paid and the required paperwork that has been sent to him.
The head of RevolutionPlus went on to say that Oladipo never paid the company N40 million, as stated in the widely shared video, advising people to ignore his false and deceptive statements.
However, the statement also said that Oladipo, who was reached over the phone during the committee’s investigation, insisted he had given RevolutionPlus Property Limited the N18,606,000.00 deposit in 2017.
He mentioned that he was unable to complete the payment as originally agreed upon since he lost his job along the way.
He affirmed that he turned down the opportunity to move to Lagos State’s Amazon Estate, Epe, and that he wants the state government to force RevolutionPlus Property Limited to provide him with the land that he has subscribed to.
The Investigation Committee informed the complainant that the real estate company was entitled to offer him the choice of relocation to a location equal to the amount he had paid, or a refund of the amount paid less 40% as specified in the parties’ mutually agreed-upon contract of sales, in the event that he failed to fulfill his payment obligations.
The statement further disclosed, āIt should be noted that after the deliberations by the investigation team, Oladipo has agreed to accept the allocation of five plots of land at Amazon Estate, Epe of Lagos State which is equivalent to the present value ofĀ hisĀ payment.ā
