MANY STUDENTS FEARED DEAD, WOUNDED AS STAMPEDE, RIOT OCCUR IN CAMEROON SCHOOL (VIDEO)

A devastating stampede that occurred this morning at Government Bilingual High School Etoug Ebe in Yaoundé, Cameroon, claimed a substantial number of fatalities. The incident happened soon after the school gate was opened, which caused the pupils to become agitated and afraid.

Numerous students lost their lives in the stampede, according to reports, while dozens more were injured. It has been claimed that twenty-one students have sustained injuries, making it a sad day for the school and the larger community.

According to reports, students hurried through the opened gates, causing chaos and crowding as the tragedy transpired. Witnesses recounted a chaotic situation in which students were frantically attempting to enter the premises, which set off a deadly series of events.

 

The local authorities responded to the situation promptly. Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent, Mfoundi’s senior divisional officer, showed up on time to the school grounds in order to evaluate the situation and organize rescue operations.

Given the seriousness of the situation, an investigation into the events leading up to the stampede has been launched right away.

In the same vein, a riot also broke out in the school, in which Riot police were called to restore calm in the establishment.

However, the cause of the riot is unknown as of the time of filing this report.
