The Plateau State Government has recovered more than 60 properties, including buildings, construction equipment, and vehicles, as part of an ongoing effort to reclaim public assets allegedly diverted or illegally occupied across the state.

The Chairman of the Taskforce on Recovery of Government Properties, retired General Nash Yakubu, disclosed this while presenting an interim report to the Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government, Jerry Satmak, in Jos.

Yakubu said the task force had so far made significant progress in recovering government assets since it commenced operations over a year ago.

According to him, “We have recovered over 60 buildings, alongside construction equipment and vehicles.”

He explained that items that could not be moved to Jos were secured at various local government headquarters, while those recovered within Jos metropolis have been transferred to a central storage facility.

He added that the recovery exercise is still ongoing, noting that operations continue even beyond the presentation of the report.

Yakubu also said the task force adopted a community-driven approach, encouraging citizens to report suspected cases of diverted government property under its “See something, say something” initiative.

He noted that dedicated phone lines and an official email address have been provided, while regular media briefings allow members of the public to submit information.

Receiving the report, Chief of Staff Jerry Satmak commended the task force for its dedication and performance, assuring continued government support for its operations.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to recovering all government assets and ensuring they are properly utilised for the benefit of residents of the state.
