The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction and killing of a 17-year-old candidate of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Thompson Adams, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
According to the police commissioner, the suspects, identified as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwen Ogenata, 21, were arrested on Monday at about 8:00 p.m. following credible intelligence.
Tijani explained that preliminary investigations showed the victim was returning from his examination centre on April 22, 2026, when the incident occurred.
He said the suspects, who were former secondary schoolmates of the victim, allegedly lured him to their apartment where they later killed him.
“On April 27, 2026, at about 20:00 hours, operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, traced and arrested suspected kidnappers at Lucky Fibre, Ikorodu, Lagos,” the CP stated.
He added that the suspects were linked to the kidnapping and gruesome murder of Thompson Adams.
According to him, after killing the victim, the suspects reportedly concealed his body in a bag before disposing of it within the community.
The police commissioner further disclosed that investigations uncovered the suspects’ alleged involvement in another kidnapping and murder case involving a female victim in November 2025.
He said the victim, who was reportedly the girlfriend of one of the suspects, was abducted and a ransom demanded from her family.
Tijani revealed that despite receiving N300,000 from the victim’s family, the suspects still went ahead to kill her.
The police boss assured that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
