President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his intention to seek a second term in office, declaring that growing insecurity in parts of the country will not force him out of power.
Tinubu made the statement while receiving Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and other stakeholders from the state.
The President said individuals using the country’s security challenges to criticise his administration were indirectly advancing the agenda of his political opponents and hostile elements.
“You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me,” Tinubu stated.
He maintained that he remains determined despite increasing criticism over the security situation across the country.
“I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term,” the President added.
Tinubu’s comments come amid renewed concerns over attacks, kidnappings, and killings in several parts of Nigeria, with opposition figures and civil society organisations urging the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address insecurity.
The President has consistently defended his administration’s handling of security challenges, insisting that security agencies are receiving the necessary support to combat threats and restore stability nationwide.
