DEATH OF AN ICON: FAMILY HOLDS BURIAL WAKE-KEEP SERVICE FOR DEJUMO LEWIS

The family of Legendary actor, Dejumo Lewis, has held a christian wake-keep service for the village headmaster’s Kabiyesi to celebrate a life well spent.

The wake keep was held on Thursday at the St.Leo’s Catholic Church in Ikeja, while the burial mass will hold on Friday at the burial mass will take place at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Lagos Island with a private internment which follows immediately.

While giving his tribute, Demola Lewis, the Kabiyesi’s son, amidst tears, revealed the pain of losing his dear father but, grateful for the kind of family he left behind.

He described Dejumo Lewis, as a great father who insisted that they all had a great family.

He said, “Daddy was someone who taught us how to pray for ourselves, and our enemies particularly.”

Demola thanked all the Catholic priests, members of the choir, classmates, colleagues, friends and everyone for coming to grace the occasion.

Meanwhile, Chief Mrs. Bimbo Oloyede, a representative of NTA on the cast of Village Headmaster, described him as an Icon, legend, seminarian, actor, productive writer, reputable teacher and an introvert, while adding that he would always remain the only “unshakeable, legitimate Kabiyesi with his rights intact.”

“NTA, WAP, Amebo, Prince Dagbolu, and the highly respected council of chiefs, headmaster, teacher and the entire members of the cast and crew celebrates your transition to higher calling and glory, at your full age of 80 years. Till we meet to part no more, Dejumo Lewis, we say goodnight,” she added.

Dejumo died on 22nd of December, 2023 at the age of 80-years-old.

He was well known for his role as Kabiyesi in the Nigeria’s largest running television soap opera, The Village Headmaster.
