SOKOTO RERUN: PDP WINS STATE ASSEMBLY SEAT
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate has been proclaimed the winner of the rerun election in the Bodinga North state constituency in Sokoto State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Following the court-order of rerun of the election, Magaji Abubakar of the PDP was declared the winner with 6,488 votes cast, according to Professor Farouk Tambuwal, the returning officer.
He defeated his closest opponent, Yusuf Marafa Danchadi, the All Progressive Congress candidate who garnered 5,893 votes.
Speaking while declaring him the winner in the early hours of Sunday morning, Tambuwal said, “Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Magaji Abubakar of the PDP is hereby declared the winner is returned elected.”
Recall that the court of appeals had declared the election in Bodinga Constituency inconclusive and ordered a rerun in five polling units in the constituency.
