LASTMA VOWS TO PROSECUTE SKIT, FILMMAKERS OVER UNAUTHORIZED USE OF UNIFORM, KITS
The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has warned that henceforth, any skit or filmmaker caught using the agency’s uniform or its affiliated color, kits, and accoutrements without any authorization from the government would be prosecuted.
The General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, stated this on Thursday after watching two actors in fake LASTMA uniforms in a viral video on social media where one of them was being revived through diabolical means after impounding a white ‘Sienna’ Space bus on the road.
Bakare-Oki frowned at the demeaning manner in which movie and skit makers portray LASTMA institutions in their movies and skits, using the agency’s uniform without recourse to Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, which criminalizes such unauthorized use.
According to the LASTMA boss, “film or skit makers who portray as LASTMA officers without applying for and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals to desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the law.”
He maintained that such sanity in movie production, regulation of possession, and usage of LASTMA uniforms will surely curb the proliferation of the agency’s kits, uniforms, and accessories within our society.
“We implore National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affiliated bodies to warn their members, as anyone caught using LASTMA uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted in accordance with ‘Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” Oki stated.
