EMBRACE INNOVATION, DEPUTY GOV URGES YOUTHS
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, urged youths to think creatively in order to propel the nation’s development and transformation.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy stated that Hamzat offered the counsel while he was a guest of the academy.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the deputy governor held discussions with the academy fellows and encouraged them to adopt creative thinking as a fundamental component of successful leadership.
“Innovation is the engine that drives progress and transformation in every society.
“The fellows of this prestigious academy and the youths generally must harness their creativity and vision to pioneer solutions that drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
“The critical role of innovation in addressing the complex challenges facing society today is very vital in proffering solutions to some of these challenges,” he said.
Hamzat commended the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, for her dedication to good leadership development in the state.
He reiterated the government’s unwavering support for initiatives targeted at empowering youth and fostering a culture of leadership across all sectors.
Last year, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu identified the youthful population as one of the factors that fostered the rapid growth of Africa’s tech sector.
“Africa has a population of over 1.2 billion people, of which 60 percent are under 25 years and 70–75 percent are under 40. This demographic is a significant opportunity for growth and technology,” he said at the GITEX One Africa Digital Summit in Marrakech, Morocco.
