HARDSHIP: LONE PROTESTER WALKS STREETS OF UYO
On Monday, 41-year-old David Ubaha commenced a lone protest in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, to vent his frustration over the growing economic hardship in Nigeria.
Ubaha, a resident of the state’s Itu Local Government Area, said that the situation has gotten out of hand and that most people are unable to handle it. He protested alone by wrapping posters around himself.
He bemoaned the fact that those in charge of the country are insensitive to the numerous issues that the populace faces and added that when sensible suggestions for reviving the economy are made, those in charge do not take them into account.
The businessman and father of two said, “How to fix this country does not reside with our leaders alone. It resides with the people, but the saddest episode is that when these ideas are being proffered by the people, the leaders will not take them into cognizance.
“On the other part, the people do not know how to compel the leaders to fix the country for the common good of everybody and the posterity. So, I, David Ubaha, a true son of Ibiobio, have sworn to never keep quiet and watch this country go down the drain.
“The situation has affected me negatively. The cost of fuel, cost of food in the market have gone up. I’m not just blowing my trumpet alone, but looking at what the society is passing through. It pricks my mind”.
