MAN ARRAIGNED OVER ALLEGED N580,000 FRAUD
A 27-year-old man, Haruna Akinlolu, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court, Ogun, for allegedly defrauding a man of N580,000.
The Police charged Akinlolu, whose address was not provided, for stealing and fraud.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, informed the court that the defendant committed the offenses in March 2023 at Ago-Adura, Anisere area, Ota.
Adaraloye said the defendant collected N580,000 under the false pretext of fabricating Aluminium windows for the complainant, Ademola Adewole.
“The defendant converted the money to personal use instead of fulfilling the agreement between them,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offenses contravened Section 390 (9) and 421 of the Criminal Code Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.
Fadairo said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until April 9 for further hearing.
