LASBCA STRENGTHENS ENFORCEMENT TEAM FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY

Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has reorganised and strengthened the Enforcement Team of the Agency by regrouping them towards a wider reach and enhanced service delivery across the State.

General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki disclosed this recently during his monthly general meeting with members of the Enforcement Team.

The team which is saddled with implementation/enforcement of the statutory functions of LASBCA  comprising monitoring of all ongoing building constructions in the State by making sure that owners/developers adhered strictly to the Building Plan Approval granted by the State Government, identifying distressed, illegal and  non-conforming buildings, amongst others.

Oki, during the meeting commended the team for their unwavering commitment towards the discharge of their statutory duties and the full actualisation of set goals and objectives of LASBCA through their effective monitoring, enforcement and identification of ongoing building constructions, illegal and non-conforming buildings in Lagos State.

He further emphasised that the regrouping of the enforcement team is needed to help boost their job performance and for wider coverage of all  the five Divisions of the State which include, Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe (IBILE).

He implored them to be law abiding citizens of the State by making sure that duties are not compromised and works are professionally handled during their routine monitoring and enforcement exercises as overzealousness, aggression and unprofessionalism breeds zero results.

The General Manager, while expressing his condolence to the family and colleagues of a member of the enforcement team, Mr. Kamoru Bello, who recently lost his life in active service disclosed that the management of LASBCA has decided to name a building housing the enforcement unit to immortalise him. He reiterated that the general well-being of the enforcement team is paramount to the Agency and the State in general and anything needed to help motivate, encourage and satisfy them will be duly and adequately provided to them.

His words: “Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) is deeply saddened by the passing of a cherished staff member and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and colleagues. I acknowledge the Enforcement team for their steadfastness amidst this trying period, appreciating your resilience. As a mark of respect and to keep his memory alive, the management has decided to name the building housing the enforcement unit after him”.

Oki, who also appreciated the support of the dedicated police officers working with the team, urged them to take charge of their safety and health seriously while streamlining enforcement procedures and maintaining order during monitoring and enforcement of building regulations across Lagos State.
