RESIDENTS RESCUE NEWBORN BABY ABANDONED IN ANAMBRA FOREST
A newborn baby abandoned in a forest in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been rescued by some residents.
A source told our correspondent that the concerned residents are rehabilitating the baby.
The source said: “From what we saw the baby may been abandoned in the forest for about two days before it was discovered.
“The baby is doing well; he is stable.”
A video trending online corroborated the report.
In the video, some women believed to be local midwives were seen cleansing the baby while condemning those who abandoned him in the forest.
The women and a male voice doing the video wondered how someone would carry a baby for nine months, only to throw such the child away.
Our correspondent could not get the police to react to the development as of the time of filing this report as calls put across to the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, could not go through.
