According to Bakare Oki, Lastma has started aggressive public education campaigns at garages and motor parks to urge drivers to strictly abide by all traffic laws and to inform passengers of their rights by alerting drivers when they are travelling at a high speed or attempting to drive against the flow of traffic, which is designated as “one-way.”
He issued a specific warning in the statement about speeding, improper overtaking, lane violations, road obstruction, running red signals, overloading, and one-way driving.
According to the General Manager, Lastma personnel would be manning and regulating traffic prior to, during, and following the Eld El-Fitr celebrations throughout the state while they were at their legitimate duty posts.
Also, that patrol and recovery vehicles would be deployed to ensure safety of motorists and timely rescue intervention across the State.
āThe Agency would not tolerate any avoidable infractions as a result of negligence capable of hindering flow of vehicular movement on roads across the Stateā
He however enjoined members of the public particularly motoring public to inform Lastma of any road obstructions, gridlocks, crashes or other emergency related matters that require Lastma urgent attention via the following hotlines 08100565860, 08129928597, 08129928503 & 08174722227.
