LAGOS GOVT SET TO PROSECUTE FIVE ARRESTED MISCREANTS FOR ATTACK ON LASTMA OFFICERS IN IKEJA
The Lagos State Government is set to prosecute five individuals arrested for assaulting and injuring LASTMA personnel during an enforcement operation in the Oba Akran Avenue area of Ikeja, Lagos.
Speaking on the incident, Hon. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, explained that the LASTMA operatives were conducting an operation to remove illegally parked Viju Milk trucks on Oba Akran Avenue in response to numerous complaints from the public about the trucks which were causing traffic congestion when they were viciously attacked by the truck drivers and miscreants in the area.
THREE CONFIRMED DEAD, SEVERAL TRAPPED IN KANO BUILDING COLLAPSE
He added that despite LASTMA operational vehicles being vandalised, 54 Viju Milk trucks were successfully evacuated during the enforcement operations to decongest the road and ensure the free flow of traffic movement.
The Special Adviser further revealed that the Police, working in conjunction with LASTMA officials, arrested five of the attackers, namely Falomo Oluwafemi, Afeniyi Stephen, Olamide Adekunle, Chukwu Guaja Eze and Adeshina Sulaimon. However, the injured LASTMA officers were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Hon. Sola Giwa stated that the arrested individuals will be prosecuted by the state government, as a deterrent to others.
