KADUNA: INVITE EL-RUFAI TO ACCOUNT EIGHT YEARS FINANCIAL DEALINGS – SHEHU SANI
Former Senator representing Kaduna North Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, has said that recovering Kaduna’s looted $350 million World Bank loan cannot be accomplished solely by interrogating former Commissioners and Advisers
He insisted that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai should also be summoned to address questions regarding the loan.
Few months ago, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani (successor to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai), raised concerns about inheriting a substantial debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the previous administration. This has made it challenging for him to meet immediate financial obligations such as workers’ salaries.
Following this revelation, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has expressed its commitment to investigating the past administration of Governor El-Rufai.
However, former Senator Shehu Sani, in a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday, stressed that El-Rufai should not be exempt from accountability. He urged that El-Rufai be summoned to clarify the whereabouts of Kaduna’s share of Paris refund, Excess Crude funds, Stamp Duties Funds, Ecological Funds, and the billions in loans obtained from the Central Bank and Domestic Banks.x
He stated, “All those contractors and useless consultants who absconded with money, and all those who benefited from the misappropriation of Kaduna State properties and are still enjoying themselves, should consider themselves fortunate that it’s not Comrade Shehu Sani who is currently governing the state.”
