The new office for processing advance passenger information and passenger name records was unveiled on Wednesday by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, and Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development.

In a post on X.com on Thursday, Keyamo revealed this, saying it was an important step toward improving border security and facilitating lawful travel.

He wrote, “Yesterday, along with my colleague, the HM Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, we unveiled the new Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) office at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.

“API/PNR are two technical responses to streamline traveler identification management and facilitate border management.”

He continued by saying that this progress was the result of productive cooperation between public and private sector organizations.

“This solution will help to maintain the delicate balance between upholding border security and facilitating cross-border movements,” he continued.

“It is a product of effective cooperation between government agencies, the private sector and relevant international actors.”

Keyamo unveiled plans to review agreements Nigeria had entered into with some nations of the world, to ensure local carriers fly international routes without any encumbrances.
