OYO GOV, MAKINDE APPROVES RECRUITMENT OF 338 TRAFFIC OFFICERS

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, approved the recruitment of 338 officers for the state’s Road Traffic Management Authority on Thursday in an effort to improve traffic flow and state regulations.

This was announced in a statement issued in the state capital of Ibadan and signed by Dotun Oyelade, the state commissioner for information, according to Major Adesagba Adekoya, the chairman of the OYRTMA.

Adekoya made the disclosure during the screening process, which took place at the OYRTMA operating headquarters in Sanyo, Ibadan. She said that over 2,450 applications from eligible individuals had been received.

He emphasized that the screening process was an example of Governor Makinde’s responsive administration, as he saw appropriate to approve the addition of 338 officers to the OYRTMA.

The chairman explained that the approval was in pursuance as a result of the revalidated approval policy signed in 2021.

He said, “We have here today able-bodied men and women from Ogbomosho, Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun, Oyo town, and Ibadan, competing for the various positions in OYRTMA.

“This recruitment exercise is organized with collaborative efforts of the state Civil Service Commission and Ministry of Establishment and Training. The screening exercise entails registration, accreditation, physical test, and medical test.”

He stressed further that qualified applicants at the first stage would move to other stages before the interview session that would be conducted by the Civil Service Commission and Ministry of Establishment and Training.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, who was represented by the Senior Administrative officer on recruitment, Adelowo Oladapo commended the state government for the opportunity of reducing the pressure of unemployment in the state.

In his remarks, the Director of Recruitment and Service Matters, Ministry of Establishment and Training, Olusola Ojelabi, highlighted the exercise as a proactive step to address road traffic enforcement, rules, and regulations.
