EURO 2024: ENGLAND SETS NEW RECORD AFTER WIN VS NETHERLANDS
England set a new European Championship record after their dramatic 2-1 semi-final win against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Aston Villa striker, Ollie Watkins, was the hero for England as he scored in the 91st minute to secure a place in Sunday’s final.
Xavi Simons had given Netherlands the lead in the seventh minute before Harry Kane equalised from the penalty spot on 18 minutes.
With the win, England are the first side in UEFA European Championship history to reach the final despite trailing in both the quarter-finals and semi-final en-route.
In the quarter-final against Switzerland, England also had to come from behind to win to progress into the semi-finals.
After Bukayo Saka had made it 1-1 against Switzerland, the Three Lions went on to win 5-3 on penalty shootout.
They will now take on Spain in this year’s European Championship finals in Berlin on Sunday.
