
U-20: FLYING EAGLES BEAT SENEGAL, ADVANCE TO AFCON SEMI-FIANLS

Following a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Senegal, Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup and guaranteed a spot in the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations U-20 tournament.
Both clubs failed to find the back of the net as the hotly contested knockout stage match ended goalless after normal and extra time.
Nigeria ultimately prevailed 3-1 in the penalty shootout.
During normal and extra time of the continental youth championship knockout match, the two teams were unable to break out of a tie.
Despite numerous attempts from both sides, neither team could break the deadlock, leading to a penalty decider.
Senegal only converted one of Nigeria’s three spot kicks, allowing the Flying Eagles to secure the victory and go to the competition’s final four.
The outcome guarantees Nigeria’s spot in the forthcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in addition to advancing them to the U-20 AFCON semifinals.
