FIRE OUTBREAK DESTROYS SHOPS IN KANO COMMERCIAL BUILDING

A fire outbreak in the early hours of Wednesday gutted parts of a commercial plaza along Airport Road in Kano, destroying two shops dealing in hospital equipment.
The Kano State Fire Service confirmed that the incident occurred at No. 20A Airport Road in Fagge Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call at about 4:01 a.m. from a resident identified as Chukude, who reported the fire.
Upon receiving the alert, firefighters from the service headquarters and other stations within Kano metropolis were swiftly deployed to the scene.

On arrival, they found a two-storey building measuring about 100 by 100 feet, being used as a business plaza, already engulfed in flames.
The fire service said two hospital equipment shops located on the ground floor were affected and completely destroyed by the blaze.
It added that fire trucks were dispatched from Abubakar Rimi Market, Kantin Kwari, Bompai Fire Station, and the Central Fire Station to help contain the inferno.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, urged residents to adopt safety measures to prevent fire incidents.
He also advised the public to remain vigilant and report emergencies promptly to the appropriate authorities.
