OGUN CUSTOMS SEIZES 18.750 LITRES OF PMS WORTH N13.2M

The Nigeria Customs Service, Anti-bunkering Unit, said it intercepted 13, 750 litres of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol in Ogun State.

Addressing the journalists in Ikeja on Friday, Husseini Ejibunnu, the Coordinator of the NCS’s Anti-bunkering Unit, revealed that the shipments had been captured in various locations throughout Ogun State.

Ejibunnu emphasised that the contraband was discovered within three days and stated that the duty-paid worth of the petrol that was confiscated was N13.2 million.

ā€œWe seized a total of 760 jerry cans in 25 litres each equivalent to 18, 750 litres with duty paid value of N13.2m,ā€ Ejibunnu said.

He claimed that the officers’ successes demonstrated their tenacity and willpower in achieving the objectives put in front of them.

ā€œIt was a three-day operation, the first one was done at Imeko, the second one was carried out at Owode while the third was conducted at Ijowun,ā€ also Ejibunnu said.

According to him, some of the seizures were brought to the FOU, Zone A.

The coordinator revealed that nine automobiles that were utilised as transportation were also seized.

ā€œSeven of the vehicles are now in Lagos while two are parked at Abeokuta,ā€ he said.

According to Ejibunnu, no suspects were taken into custody during the most recent operation, but two were in the previous ones.

He vowed to use the recovered vehicles to seek down any individuals who left the site.

He revealed that Wale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of Customs, is assembling a legal team to handle every issue in court.

According to the former CAC in command of FOU Zone A, the interception merely demonstrates the unit’s steadfast support of the service’s aims and initiatives for the better good of our country.

Speaking on the reason for the formation of the unit, Ejibunnu said, that it was set up by the CGC to ensure that Nigerians enjoy the full benefits of fuel price deregulation in line with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said that the unit’s operations encompass all service zones.
