RENARD LINKED WITH SUPER EAGLES COACHING JOB
Hervé Renard has been linked with the vacant coaching job of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Following the resignation of Finidi George, who is now Rivers United coach, the Eagles are yet to get a new coach.
The Executive Committee of the NFF in a meeting in June announced that an expatriate Technical Adviser will be hired, following the Eagles’ poor 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Now, according to footmercato.net the NFF has approached Renard for the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
Aside the NFF, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has also shown interest in Renard, who currently handles the French women’s team who will feature at this summer’s Olympics in Paris.
Renard was in charge of Zambia’s Chipolopolo when they lost to the Super Eagles in the quarter-finals of the 2010 AFCON.
In his second spell as Zambia’s head coach, he guided them to the AFCON title in 2012 where they defeated a star-studded Côte d’Ivoire side on penalties.
In 2015 he landed his second AFCON title after leading Côte d’Ivoire to defeat Black Stars of Ghana on penalty shootout.
In February 2016, Renard was appointed as the new Atlas Lions of Morocco coach and qualified them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, their first since 1998.
