JUST IN: COURT REJECTS EMEFIELE’S APPLICATION TO TRAVEL ABROAD FOR MEDICAL CHECKUP
The request for permission to go to the United Kingdom for a follow-up medical examination made by Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was denied by Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Among other things, Justice Muazu’s verdict stated that Emefiele had not provided enough evidence to demonstrate the necessity and unavoidability of the medical journey.
Emefiele claimed to have received an invitation to fly to the UK for medical treatment, but Justice Muazu discovered that he had neglected to present a copy of the invitation to the court.
