(PHOTOS): #EndBadGovernance Day 5: RUSSIAN FLAG SPREADS ACROSS PROTEST GROUNDS
More Russian flags have reappeared on the streets of some Nigerian cities, especially the northern part, as the #EndBadGovernance protest entered its fifth day.
Protesters, wielding Russian flags, were seen marching the streets and chanting different slogans, with others carrying placards.
In a video trending on X, protesters were seen in Kaduna chanting in Hausa, “Welcome, Russia; Welcome, Russia,” while waving the Russian flag.
HOTJIST reported earlier that Kano protesters were also seen waving the Russian flag as they continued their demonstration.
Likewise, in Zamfara, some protesters were spotted waving the Russian flag on Monday in Gusau, the state capital.
Inscription on one of the flag says, “We are Nigerians, Russia we need your help”.
Russia, an Eastern power that is currently having a cold war with the West, Nigeria’s colonial power, has been fingered in the coup d’etats in West African countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, among others.
However, the motive behind the waving of the Russian flags is unknown.
In his nationwide broadcast on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu asked protesters not to allow enemies of democracy to use them to overthrow his government.
Although the President didn’t make any reference to Russia in the broadcast, his warning about “enemies of democracy” has sparked some speculation on social media platforms.
