BREAKING: TOBI AMUSAN FAILS TO QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS 100M HURDLES FINAL
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the current world champion and world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, has failed to reach the final of the women’s 100m hurdles event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday.
Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan, a world record holder in the 100m hurdles, failed to qualify for the final event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Amusan finished third in her heat with a time of 12.55 seconds, which wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the final.
She finished 9th overall in the semifinals, missing the automatic qualification spots.
Despite missing the automatic qualification spots, Amusan had hoped to secure a spot in the final eight as one of the fastest losers, but unfortunately, her time wasn’t enough to advance.
Amusan is a renowned athlete who has made history by becoming the world’s fastest woman in the 100m hurdles, setting a record of 12.40s (0.9) at the 2024 Jamaica Athletics Invitational.
She also won gold at the World Championships in 2022, setting a world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinals.
Earlier, the 100m Hurdles World Record holder made a strong statement at the Paris 2024 Olympics, winning her heat with a remarkable 12.49 seconds on Wednesday. However, she couldn’t replicate that performance in Friday’s semifinal, failing to improve her time.
Tobi Amusan’s disqualification has dampened Nigerians’ hopes of winning any medals for the country in the ongoing Olympic events, leaving many feeling disappointed and disillusioned.
