PARIS 2024: NIGERIA DISQUALIFIED FROM MEN’S 4x400m RELAY FINAL
The Nigerian men’s 4x400m team have been disqualified from competing in the final of the event.
The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie sealed a place in the final after finishing second in heat 1 behind France.
They ran a season’s best time of 2:59.81.
The Nigerians were however disqualified for stepping on the line in their heat.
Belgium have now moved to second position, with South Africa stepping up to third position.
The quartet hopes of emulating the 2000 and 2004 teams that won gold and bronze in Sydney and Athens has now been dashed.
