KOGI GOVERNOR’S WIFE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT TUBERCULOSIS

Sefinat Ododo, the wife of the Kogi State Governor, has pledged to utilize her position to combat the spread of Tuberculosis in the state.
Hajiya Ododo made this commitment during the launch of the “Stop TB Partnership Nigeria,” in partnership with the Kogi State Ministry of Health, on Thursday at the Lugard House, the state’s government seat in Lokoja.
She emphasized that the campaign is a crucial initiative aimed at increasing awareness and providing effective treatment for TB in the state.
“Our collective efforts today will help to drive home the message that tuberculosis is preventable, treatable and curable.
“I extend heartfelt appreciation to all the partners, stakeholders , health care professionals and communities who have come together to support this initiative.

“As we embark on this campaign, let us remain committed, focused and determined to make a difference.
“I am honoured to accept the call to serve as the ‘Stop TB Champion for Kogi State’, and I am using the opportunity to call on the wives of 21 local government areas Chairmen, to serve as LGA TB champions,” Ododo said.
The First Lady of Kogi State, Sefinat Ododo, pledged to set an example for others and to fully support the campaign against Tuberculosis (TB) in the state.
She emphasized that the campaign is a crucial step in increasing awareness and ensuring effective treatment for TB across Kogi.
She urged people to seek testing if they experience a persistent cough for more than two weeks, as early diagnosis is key to treatment.
Ododo also praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her leadership as the Global and National Stop TB champion earlier this year.
She highlighted that during the investiture, Mrs. Tinubu appointed governors’ wives as TB Champions in their respective states to further raise awareness and reduce the prevalence of this treatable disease to the lowest possible level.
