BREAKING: SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS ODODO AS GOVERNOR OF KOGI
Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the victor of the Kogi State governorship election on November 11, 2023, by the Supreme Court on Friday.
The confirmation came when Social Democratic Party candidate Murtala Ajaka’s appeal challenging the election results was denied.
The Apex Court, in a unanimous ruling, maintained the Court of Appeal’s ruling that, on May 27, had supported Mister Ododo’s election.
The five-member panel determined that the SDP governorship candidate had not demonstrated any material non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
It went on to say that claims of age fraud and certificate fabrication are pre-election issues that should have been discussed at the Federal High Court, which has the authority to consider these kinds of cases.
