UPDATE: SHETTIMA TO REPRESENT TINUBU IN NEW YORK FOR 79TH UNGA
President Bola Tinubu will not attend this year’s 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The President has appointed Vice President Kashim Shettima to head Nigeria’s delegation.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Advisor to the President on Information and Strategy, made the announcement in a statement.
The statement stated that President Tinubu, who returned to the country last Sunday from a trip to China and the United Kingdom, intends to focus on home matters and solve some of the country’s concerns, particularly in light of the recent severe flooding in parts of the country.
Vice President Shettima will present Nigeria’s national statement to the General Assembly during UNGA 79, as well as attend significant sideline events and hold bilateral meetings.
