Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has pledged to give all political parties taking part in the upcoming local government election an even playing field.

The election scheduled for October 5, 2024, is anticipated to feature no fewer than eight parties.

Speaking at the All Progressive Congress election campaign kickoff on Wednesday in Gboko, Alia promised a free and fair poll.

In the upcoming polls, the governor, accompanied by his deputy, Sam Ode, asked party members to put in a lot of effort and make sure the APC candidates secured every seat.

“His Excellency, Hyacinth Alia is determined to ensure that the coming election is free and fair, hence, he has promised to provide a level playing ground for all the political parties,” he said.

As a result, Ode gave the party flags to each of the 23 APC chairmanship contenders and their deputies, instructing them to serve their constituents.

Benjamin Omale, the chairman of the APC caretaker committee, stated in his welcome speech that the committee had been instrumental in resolving the grievances of disgruntled candidates and making sure that each and every voice was respected.

According to Omale, the committee’s work has greatly contributed to the party’s unity and understanding.

He declared that keeping their campaign pledges was a top priority for the state APC administration.

In order to improve service delivery and the welfare of the populace as a whole, he urged party members to turn out in large numbers on October 5 and vote for all APC candidates.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu, the APC’s national chairman, and the working committee for their assistance in forging the unity caretaker committee and bringing peace to Benue.
