ZAMFARA STATE CELEBRATES ONE YEAR POLIO-FREE
Dr. Aisha M. Z. Anka, the Commissioner of Health for Zamfara State, has declared that the State has gone a year without experiencing a case of the polio virus.
At a one-day town hall meeting on the upcoming Integration Measles Vaccination Campaign in Gusau, she revealed this, stating that the success was due to the cooperative efforts of all stakeholders in routine immunization.
Anka expressed gratitude to NGOs like as WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, and others for their assistance, saying that the state could not have achieved that without their help.
The Commissioner further declared that the State government would make every effort to eradicate polio and measles to a 60 percent rate by the end of 2025.
The Commissioner was represented by Malam Bashir Surajo Gusau, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. In order to accomplish Governor Dauda Lawal’s Health Sector Agenda, Anka asked all parties involved to collaborate.
Dr. Raji, the State’s WHO Coordinator, asked the state to make sure that everyone on the list was contacted, particularly the most vulnerable residents in underserved areas, and offered the WHO’s support.
