OLMO SCORES TWICE AS BARCELONA BEAT ESPANYOL 3-1 IN CATALAN DERBY

Barcelona continues their remarkable season as they are now nine points clear at the top of La Liga after another convincing victory on Sunday evening.
Hansi Flick’s side were destructive once again, securing a 3-1 win in their derby clash against city neighbours Espanyol.
It was another flying start from the hosts, as they scored after 12 minutes. It was a wonderful trivela cross from Lamine Yamal, and Dani Olmo ran onto it before firing past Joan Garcia for the opening goal.
11 minutes later, it was 2-0. Marc Casado played a beautiful through ball for Raphinha to run onto, and he did well to lift the ball over the onrushing Garcia.
On the half hour mark, Barcelona got their third as Olmo lashed home from outside of the penalty area.
That first half blitz won the game for Barcelona, although Espanyol did manage to find a consolation goal from Javi Puado – it came after they had two previous efforts ruled out by VAR.
The result means that Barcelona extend their lead over Real Madrid, who did not play this weekend because their match against Valencia was postponed because of Storm Dana.
The offside tactic of Barca results in 13 goals canceled
Barça practices millimetre offside play that disintegrates its rivals. In the derby, Espanyol scored three goals, although the first two were cancelled because a Spanish player was slightly offside. It was a day after Mbappé’s disallowed goal in the Classic.
Up to 13 goals have been disallowed against Barça’s opponents, 7 of them thanks to VAR, which is acting as a guarantee against the brave blue system with such advanced lines.
Out of the 13 goals, Iñigo Martínez was the last man in five of them, followed by Cubarsí and Balde, both with two times each. In the 12 rounds played, the figure rises to 82, more than double that of any team in the five major European leagues.
The collection of so many disallowed goals against Barça’s opponents started with a ‘hat-trick’ from Villarreal, desperate to end up losing 1-5.
In the Champions League, in Monaco, VAR was not needed as the referee invalidated Singo’s fleeting 2-1 before ending up losing. More decisive was to cancel Harry Kane’s goal against Bayern before he legally scored the 1-1.
