Operation Hadin Kai’s air component, OPHK, has carried out airstrikes throughout the southern Lake Chad region, eliminating no fewer than 70 ISWAP fighters.

The missiles were fired on November 5 against camps run by infamous ISWAP commander Usman Russia, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency journal that focuses on the Lake Chad region.

According to the magazine, the strikes affected the camps of Kwallaram and Arainna Ciki, which are close to Jibilarram in Marte LGA of Borno state. The Kwallaram camp suffered 79 casualties.

While the exact number of fatalities at Arainna Ciki remains unknown, the report noted that several militants were killed there as well.

“Meanwhile, following the strike, on November 7, reports emerged that ISWAP had mobilised additional fighters from its Sambisa wing, regrouping in the areas of Kusuma and Sigir in Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area,” the report reads.

Both territories are within Usman Russia’s jurisdiction, and fighters who have been mobilized are said to include elements from Sambisa Forest and Cameroon’s northern border regions. Both territories are within Usman Russia’s jurisdiction, and fighters who have been mobilized are said to include elements from Sambisa Forest and Cameroon’s northern border regions.
