
JUST IN: REMAINS OF LATE COAS LAGBAJA ARRIVE ABUJA FOR FUNERAL
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the late Chief of Army Staff, will be buried on Friday in Abuja once his body has arrived.
Around 12:15 p.m., the Nigerian Air Force aircraft NAF 918, which was carrying the late COAS’s body, touched down at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Around 11 a.m., the remains of the deceased COAS departed from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The late COAS’s body was given a guard of honor upon arriving at the Abuja airport and was carried down the red carpet in front of Nigeria’s top military officials.
On Friday, the deceased COAS will be laid to rest in Abuja’s main military cemetery.

President Bola Tinubu announced Lagbaja’s passing last week, stating that the late COAS died in Lagos following a period of illness.
Lagbaja, who was born on February 28, 1968, was appointed Chief of Army Staff by President Tinubu in June 2023 and held the role for a year and four months.
