LAGOS-BOUND AIR PEACE FLIGHT GROUNDED AFTER BIRD STRIKE

At Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, a bird strike on Thursday morning caused an Air Peace flight bound for Lagos to be abruptly grounded.
The plane was already on the runway, prepared for takeoff, and scheduled to take off at 6:30 a.m. when the event happened.
On board, human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong, from Lagos, posted about his experience on social media.
He said, “While taxing on the runway and just before takeoff, our Air Peace flight from Abuja to Lagos scheduled for 6:30 AM today was stopped forcefully, resulting in panic and screams by some passengers.
“The captain attributed the incident to a bird strike. We have been deboarded to await either a replacement or repair of the aircraft.
“Thankfully, whatever happened did not occur after takeoff. It would have been scarier.”

Air Peace, however, responded quickly and replaced the damaged aircraft, enabling passengers to board again in less than half an hour.
The lawyer expressed doubts about how well the airport’s bird control efforts were working.
On social media, other travelers also discussed their experiences.
