BREAKING: OBI REPORTEDLY LEAVES ADC AS INTERNAL DISPUTE DEEPENS

By: Fasasi Hammad
Former Peter Obi has reportedly withdrawn from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to several senior insiders familiar with ongoing political alignments ahead of the next election cycle.
Sources close to the matter said the decision followed the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the party’s prolonged leadership dispute, which has continued to raise concerns about the ADC’s stability and legal standing.
Insiders also claimed that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is aligned with Obi on the matter, with both camps reportedly viewing continued involvement in the ADC as politically risky under the current circumstances.
According to sources involved in ongoing discussions, the internal crisis within the party has generated fears that unresolved legal battles could threaten future political ambitions. One insider suggested that lingering disputes may create complications if the matter progresses through the Federal High Court.
Tensions within the party are also said to involve former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, with some insiders alleging that disagreements over leadership and political direction have further deepened divisions within the opposition bloc.
Multiple sources indicated that Obi and Kwankwaso have already begun distancing themselves from the ADC, while conversations around alternative political platforms are said to have advanced beyond preliminary stages.
Despite the intervention of the Supreme Court, insiders maintain that the ruling has not fully resolved the leadership dispute, arguing that legal uncertainties surrounding the party remain unresolved.
The reported move could mark a significant development in Nigeria’s opposition politics, as prominent figures appear to be reassessing their political strategies amid uncertainty within existing party structures.
