The Gombe State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the residence of Nafiu Bala was set ablaze in Gombe State.

In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, described the claims as false and misleading.

According to the statement, the police clarified that no incident involving the burning of Bala’s home had occurred anywhere in the state. The command urged residents to ignore the misinformation and remain calm.

Bala is currently involved in a leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is contesting claims over the party’s leadership structure through legal channels.

On April 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) withdrew recognition of rival ADC factions following a ruling by the Court of Appeal.

Subsequently, on April 30, the Supreme Court of Nigeria directed the faction led by David Mark to return to the Federal High Court for further hearing and resolution of the party’s leadership conflict.

Following the court’s directive, INEC updated its official records to recognise David Mark as ADC national chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s national secretary.
