BUHARI COMMENDS APC’S VICTORY IN ONDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION
The success of the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State, which brought back Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been praised by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former president responded to the election’s results by saying that the electorate had expressed their faith in the party and the governor “lucidly and loudly.”
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari stated that the people had used the voting booth to express their desires, and that other parties involved should honor this.
“The former President said while the election outcome has shown that democracy remains strong and cannot be easily overturned in a country as large and diverse as Nigeria, it is equally a challenge to the Governor-elect to put in place policies that engender economic growth, tame high unemployment and inflation, and advance the pursuit of welfare programs to make life better for the people,” the statement read.
Buhari also praised law enforcement and the Independent National Electoral Commission for their efforts to lessen the flaws that were noticed in earlier elections.
He wished for a prosperous term in government for Aiyeditawa and his group.
