POLICE VOW TO APPREHEND KILLERS OF VIGILANTE OPERATIVES IN ANAMBRA
The Anambra State Police Command has promised to capture the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of four vigilantes and the serious injuries of two more in the state.
The commitment was made on Monday by Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam, according to a statement released by Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.
At Ekeagu Abatete, Ikenga claimed that three vigilantes were killed and another unwary bystander was hurt by armed men driving unregistered Lexus 330 SUVs and Honda FJ Cruiser SUVs.
While evading a fierce pursuit by the Police Responding Team, the police image maker claimed to have shot and killed another vigilante, injured another, and set two vehicles on fire at Ukpo intersection in the Dunkunofia Local Government Area.
The deceased’s remains have been found, according to the police, and the injured are presently being treated at the hospital.
In addition to expressing sympathy for the deceased’s family, friends, and community, the police said they will stop at nothing to apprehend those responsible for the savage act and bring about justice.
The statement also said that the public would be informed of any new developments on the subject.
