2024 LIPAA AWARDS: LASEPA RENEWS COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL MGT AS GUINNESS EMERGES OVERALL WINNER

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Tuesday, held the year 2024 Lagos Industrial Pollution Abatement Awards (LIPAA) at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja Lagos.
LASEPA in an effort to enhance environmental advocacy, awarded industries excelling in sustainable practices, pollution control, and waste management.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services Engr. Omobolaji Gaji Tajudeen stated that “Our goal is simple: to encourage more people and businesses to adopt sustainable practices. Without this commitment, the environment will suffer, leading to increased health risks and challenges for future generations.”
Dr. Tunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized the event’s role in encouraging industries to adopt cleaner technologies and prevent untreated waste discharge into Lagos’ air and waterways.
” Since the launch of LASEPA’s pollution abatement campaigns, compliance has increased from under 17% to nearly 40%, marking a major achievement in environmental compliance.”
Prominent attendees included members of the Lagos State Executive Council, industry captains, and environmental stakeholders, signaling a strong commitment to sustainable development in Lagos.
A presentation by the students of Agidingbi Junior Grammar School and a drama by the students of Oregun Senior High School were among the performances at the event that emphasized the significance of environmental sustainability.

This year’s LIPAA ceremony reflected Lagos State’s unwavering dedication to a cleaner, greener future. With Guinness Nigeria PLC crowned as the overall winner, the event highlighted the industry’s potential to lead in environmental stewardship.
